2009 Shoebox Appeal

Euro's - Have you any loose change, Euro's and cents we can use, please send or drop them in. Closing date for shoeboxes / bags - 21st November 2010

Yes it's that time again as preparations get under way to provide cheer and encouragement to elderly and disadvantaged people in the UK and Overseas.

Members of the Good Shepherd church in Lowhill Wolverhampton have kicked off this years appeal by providing the first batch of Christmas shoe boxes for our annual appeal, as we seek to bring hope and encouragement to the forgotten people.

You can help by encouraging your family and friends to make up shoeboes / gift bags or alternatively aid with financial support to assist with the cost of collections and delivery to areas of need.

We can supply you with posters and flyers to spread the word, deadline for reciept of boxes will be November 21st as all items have to be checked, counted repacked and weighed before despatch.

In 2009 the support was amazing and countrywide from Schools, Church groups, Offices and Individuals. Well done and thank you……..

The shoebox gift is a simple concept, yet provides untold encouragement and hope for the many vulnerable and disadvantaged senior citizens living in isolation, facing hardship at home and abroad.

Last year Containers, Lorries and Vans were dispatched to Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe, Eastern Europe and United Kingdom.

(email from Bulgaria)

"I have just returned from an old people’s home where we visited this morning.

We had a tremendous reception is no exaggeration believe me. I spoke a little about yourselves and the people in England.

They were so touched and ladies came up to us afterwards in tears, as they said "these are tears of joy" they were so touched.

We went through the boxes placing a little letter in each and a tube of toothpaste. I was so touched personally at the effort and love that had gone into each.

I don't know if it is possible to pass on our thanks to those who gave, it as was although each little shoe box had the effect of a container!!!! Very, very powerful"

Well done and thank you.
