Lorry for Life appeal
Yes by donating your old mobile phone " Dead or Alive" you can make a significant difference for disabled and disadvantaged Children across the UK and Eastern Europe

"Lorries for Life" is a unique appeal stemming from a unique offer, made possible by generous support from Mercedes UK, Rossetts Commercials and Dixons in exchanging working and non working mobile phones for desperately needed new and modified vehicles.
Each and every day, Computers for Charities recieves over 400 requests seeking wide ranging assistance and support. How do you respond to such need? and provide support where it is needed. It's not easy... But since day one, continue to help as many as is possible.
Computers for Charities now urgently seeks to collect 4000 mobile phones or the equivalent of £50,000 to purchase a modified 7.5 tonne lorry, further extending the charities support and services. This new vehicle represents the next step for Charity from it's existing Vans raised by both mobles phone collections and corporate sponorship since 2003. The lorry will aid movement, not just of larger quantities of computers but essential aid items and Volunteers, desperately needed as Winter shortly draws in across Eastern Europe.
In addtion we will shortly undertake our fourth Christmas shoebox appeal for the elderly for which such transportation will enable wider and larger distribution opportunities to some of the poorest and most impoverished communities.
Pleges and support are invaluable at this time. Your mobile phones can be sent directly to Computers for Charities or possibly you may wish to go that step further and set up a collecting point at your school, church or office. Cash donations can be made on line via our web site or contact Simon for further information. Email: mobiles@computersforcharities.org or Tel: 01323 840641
Mimoza's story:
Mimoza is a remarkable lady; barely five foot tall and born blind in Eastern Europe. She as with other people living with a disability are classified as no hoper's and worthless. In Mimoza's case as with many pioneers projects the charity supports, the authorities got it wrong big time. Greatly underestimating one person's Vision and determination to improve opportunities not just for herself but also the other Visually impaired and blind people in her country.
The "School of Light" is a school for the blind, a first but it does not happen over night. Computers for Charities supported by Freedom Scientific and British Airways have started the ball rolling with the introduction of basic Braille equipment, computers incorporating "Jaws" voice recognition software. It's a start but much more input and skill are needed.
This story outlines the reality and bleakness being faced by countless Children and adults living with disability and hardship. Can you imagine how it must feel to be shunned by family, community and state, a life of total isolation and confinement? What a waste.
We need your help today to support the Mimoza's of this world ……It’s not just phones we need, Further equipment required: The needs are many, Braille equipment including printers, football shirts for teenagers, medical supplies, audio recording and audio cassette copying equipment, we can use it. And more besides...
Just 4% of mobile phones are recycled in the UK. In plain terms millions of old, broken or just unwanted and unloved mobile phones across the country are laying in cupboards and drawers gathering dust. Such a waste when they could be put to such good use !!!! Send them in
